Five Advantages of Organizing Fairs and Exhibitions in Nanning

Location: Guangxi faces Southeast Asia, neighbors Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao in the east, connects to Beibu Gulf in the south, and locates at the forefront of southwestern China. It situates at the overlapping area of southern China, southwestern China, and China-ASEAN economic circles, and sits at the converging point of Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation, Great Mekong Subregion Cooperation, Pan-Pearl River Delta Cooperation, and other regional cooperation initiatives. In January of 2017, the State Council of China released Development Scheme of Beibu Gulf Urban Cluster, which defines Nanning as an ASEAN-oriented core city and supports its development into a mega city and international city at the border area. Nanning is not only an important hub of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor Initiative, but also the connecting point of Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Circle and ASEAN Economic Circle.

Market: Being the capital city of Guangxi, Nanning serves as the core city of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, as well as the forefront and window of ASEAN-oriented opening-up and cooperation. Nanning not only covers the southwestern market, but also connects to the huge ASEAN market. In 2004, the first China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) was successfully held, which drives the urban development, economy and trade, infrastructure interconnection, and cultural exchange of the city. As a results, Nanning’s GDP, population, volume of visitors, and volume of trade experienced fast growth, all of which are manifestation of the “10+1>11” effect of China-ASEAN Expo. By leveraging CAEXPO as a platform, Nanning continues to expand the level of opening-up and cooperation, actively participates in the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and accelerates the building of China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone – Nanning Area. Six ASEAN countries have set up General Consulates in Nanning and a large number of ASEAN industrial chains have entered Nanning market with increasing numbers of global enterprising coming in, which has effectively promoted the social economy into an era of high-quality development.

Branding: With 17 years of development and accumulation, China-ASEAN Expo has become “an expo with special international influence”, a “state-level important foreign-related forum and expo” and one of the three Grade One-level expositions of nation. With the brand influence and exposition and trade resources gathered by the CAEXPO, Nanning is able to empower various conventions and exhibitions with even more trade and economic momentum and serve as a strong “springboard” for Chinese convention and exhibition enterprises to enter into ASEAN market.

Policy: In June of 2019, the Three-year Development Action Plan of Guangxi’s Convention and Exhibition Industry (2019 – 2021), co-formulated by Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Guangxi International Expo Affairs Bureau, was issued with the aim of driving Guangxi’s convention and exhibition industry in a well-rounded manner through development planning, capital support, mechanism innovation, exhibition environment, and industry promotion.

Environment: Being the capital city of Guangxi, Nanning serves as the core city of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Economic Zone, as well as the forefront and window of ASEAN-oriented opening-up and cooperation. It is located in the geographical center of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, and has the honorary titles of "United Nations Habitat Scroll of Honor", "China’s Green City", "Permanent Venue of China-ASEAN Expo", "National Ecological Garden City", "Ten Happy Cities in China" and so on.
